While I totally get the irritation (as this was my opinion initially), if the confessional wasn't confidential, then no one would have confessed those things in the first place. So yeah you'd get a quick burst of criminal cases, but then you'd get none thereafter. The only reason that information exists is because of the strength of confidentiality.

At least in this instance SOMEONE knows about it. It's not great for sure, but I'm not sure pushing it further into the dark is any better

How is the husband an asshole? Confronting her prior to throwing her stuff out doesn't seem like a line that should determine whether or not he's an asshole. All he did was find out his wife was unfaithful and decided he was done. He shouldn't have to talk about it if there's no point.
