Disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexually abusing female gymnasts, was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another inmate at a federal prison in Florida. Two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press the attack happened Sunday at United States Penitentiary Coleman in Florida. The people said he was in stable condition Monday. One of the people said he had been stabbed in the back and in the chest.

Nassar was sentenced to decades in prison for sexually assaulting gymnasts, including Olympic medalists. Nassar is serving decades in prison for convictions in state and federal courts. He admitted sexually assaulting athletes when he worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians. Separately, Nassar pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. During victim impact statements in 2018, several athletes testified that over the course of Nassars more than two decades of sexual abuse they had told adults what was happening, including coaches and athletic trainers, but that it went unreported. More than 100 women, including Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, collectively sought more than $1 billion from the federal government for the FBIs failure to stop Nassar when agents became aware of allegations against him in 2015. He was arrested by Michigan State University police in 2016, more than a year later.

Our prison system is an embarrassment and nobody who is a effectively a ward of the state should be at risk of being straight up murdered under their watch. So I'm not going to take glee in the system failing just because the person it failed is gigantic piece of shit.

But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either. Fuck that guy.

They not only knew it was going to happen, but more than likely what "car" was going to do it. (A "car" is the term for what group or "faction" an inmate belongs to. If you're in a penitentiary, you're in a car. Period. Even if it's the "independent" car. if you're not in a car, then you're in the SHU).

This guy is a prize takedown for any car. He is "work". Whoever got to pummel him has his "work" put in ten-fold. The CO's knew this 100%. He's a very high-profile predator. You can only "check yourself in" to the SHU so many times before you're literally kicked out of it, or moved to another facility or literally just do something that gets you a "shot" so that you're put in there for a certain amount of time.

This guy was systematically and purposefully shot out into GP. There is zero question. They knew who had the top bid on assaulting him. No one who is penitentiary status and a sexual predator is going to go without an assault on them. These guys will literally wait for people to get out of the SHU just to do it, for fun or for work.

One of the major cause, though, is that we really don't have control over prison (aka manpower shortage, space shortage) due to lack of funds.

And "let's raise taxes to make prison a better place for rapists and murderers" is never popular at the polls.

That being said, and I *really* hate to say this because I hate defending people like this in any way and I feel dirty for doing so, it is a failure of our prison system that he got stabbed. Yes, even a piece of shit like him deserves fair treatment in prison.
