I used to use craigslist all the time, I mean I've once done 20+ meetups in a week and hundreds overall.

I got out of regularly using it for a decade or so and am now am just trying to get a new pair of AirPods Max and a new MacBook Pro and basically everything I can find is stolen or fake or a scam or listed hours away from the real location.

I've used facebook market for other things on occasion like chairs and video games and it's been okay but very annoying compared to my craigslist experience (which is basically dead now). Pretty good for selling things and also decent for buying things. But Apple products are a nightmare to deal with on there as a buyer. That being said, I did grab a new iPad last week for a pretty good deal.

I can pretty much guarantee that any new electronics you find at appreciably less than retail price are stolen, outside of a small handful of instances where people buy them on sale then resell them later at more than the sale price but less than retail (and in that case, you also have the option to just wait for the same sales to come around). There's just no reason to buy something new, then turn around and sell it for less than you just paid.

its weird that your topic about fbm being bad for purchasing apple products ends with an example that contradicts the premise

Usually I do but not for these two items actually. I think since colleges and high schools and businesses started issuing out devices more, they get stolen more. Then people buy them and dont realize theres MDM and try to resell, or just get their money back knowing its there. I generally trust eBay as a buyer, but not as a seller. Yeah Im thinking waiting for a better Amazon Warehouse deal might be my best bet, but Ill probably keep an eye out on Facebook while doing that. Alternatively I could get a 15 Air for $1050 flat straight from apple, but I was thinking why when I could get a 16 pro for $1300-1400 realistically if I go through (a vastly underestimated amount of) some hassle.

Youd be surprised how often I used to find good deals I n the past, largely unused gifts and things won at work or such and people who upgrade every year and just dont want to deal with it, graduations, people just needing money. My parents will always have a buyer within an hour or two the few times a year they sell because they underprice it so much from just wanting things gone. I dont necessarily believe the deals are not thereIm just not used to having to deal with all the spam that looks like good deals but is fake. Though thinking about it when Im saying new I actually mean new-to-me and recent-ish and not like a conditionpoor communication on my part.

I thought so too. It was a pretty annoying process of meetups that never happened and incorrect devices and people who would read a message and not respond. But nowhere near as bad as dealing with macbooks and AirPods. The MacBook I should be able to maybe figure out, but about ready to say the AirPods for a decent deal are impossible (though this may depend on your area).
