I have not bought the game yet, but changing the localization of RMP after how many times the term RMP comes up in CS 2-4 is just >_>.

Unless it's intentional to reflect a reorganization of government after CS4 or something, anyway.

i havent started yet so I dunno for certain. im just going through the extra material first. reading 3 and 9 since I skipped that during cold steel, and I saw it alongside the backstories for Crossbell and Cold Steel so I figured its important for Mystery C route. maybe ingame its still RMP

what difficulty should I start on?

I played all of Cold Steel on the hardest difficulty and thought it was kinda easy except for a few random encounters/bosses here and there

does this game change the difficulty that much? there is now an Abyss difficulty higher than nightmare, but it says nothing can be carried over so I assume that means it basically throws away your old saves and they dont migrate which isnt what I want :(

Definitely start on at least Nightmare if you want challenge IMO. If you know your way around the combat mechanics, starting on anything less is going to be a cakewalk.

Reddit says that New Game Abyss is doable, but it's much harder than CS Nightmare. The difficulty is, as usual, frontloaded, with the prologue and apparently Rean's early portions being the hardest part. My guess is that it's probably similar to Sky FC where certain normal enemy encounters are extremely lethal and should just be avoided, and there will probably be a bit of luck in the early boss fights/monster exterminations (if present)--people weren't saying it's like SC where it's actually just "reset each prologue boss fight 30 times for favorable RNG, and you can softlock if you use consumables in the wrong fight or fail to buy cooking ingredients from the shop during the limited window you can use it". Having finished Sky SC New Game Nightmare with all bracer points, which is the hardest thing in the series, I'll definitely start on Abyss.

That said, if you are looking to experiment, Reddit warns that Abyss is a lot like Sky Nightmare in that the balance forces you into very specific strategies rather than allowing you to build how you want or experiment. Enemies are MUCH, MUCH faster than your party on Abyss, like actually three times as fast or something like that, and they nearly one-shot your characters, which means you're looking heavily at damage nullification abilities, the more broken turn order manipulation stuff, Chrono Burst (zzz), Gaius "absolute delay lmao" Worzel, abuse of Orders (oh boy, sounds familiar), etc. The early fights where you don't have all that stuff will be a lot tighter, but also probably the most strategic, forcing stuff like Iron Will and other defensive Orders.

Edit: Data transfer sounds like it works for Abyss, so I'm not sure what it means by no carryovers? People say in different places that it's meant for NG+ but also that NG+ doesn't let you carry stuff into Abyss?
Commentary on Abyss early game here -- sounds like there's a lot of dying to bad speed rolls, needing to use assault moves to start almost every random battle early game, extremely difficult early bosses:

Thanks, Ill start on nightmare. I do like difficulty but I dont like tedious restarting for the right RNG.

just got done reading 3 & 9 as well. If these are two of the new characters, they already seem more interesting than anyone from cold steel (apart from maybe Emma, Fie and Altina)
