Did she make a deal foe a reduced sentence? Because while it would sick she's released so early if she helped take down someone worse I can at least understand it.

Pretty insane stuff. Makes Smallville very strange to watch.

If you want a deep dive into how horrible this particular cult was I would recommend the series that the podcast Behind the Bastards did on it.

I only know about NXIVM because of a documentary on Hulu about various cults. They were an interesting and disturbing one in their operations, they even had branding with a "proper ritual" that involved stripping the women naked. Mack's name did come up and I wonder what he social media presence will be like, I imagine not very kind to her.

I hope she gets or got better. I think she too had her mind twisted up in this and can find her way back to some semblance of who she was before it. She will still be paying for the suffering caused regardless though.

Who's saying it's an excuse? It's a mitigating factor. Someone manipulated by a sex cult leader to help them is clearly not the same state of mind as, the sex cult leader.

I don't know every detail of the case but at a glance it makes sense why her case would be treated differently than the ringleader's.

No, her situation is different. She didn't seem out to be in a cult or to prey on people like they did. Her behavior changed when she got twisted up with raniere. And as far as I know they stayed on brand never showing remorse or testifying against each other.

The only reason Mack did what she did is because of Keith they would have done it either way.
