The first movie did okay-ish in the box office but was ripped apart from critics. The second reboot movie did crap in the box office despite being well-received by critics.

Then WB decides to hire Gunn to re-do the whole damn DC cinematic universe again despite his movie's flop? And now they're also having Rocksteady make a SS game? Who the hell asked?? I remember gamers asking for a Superman game, not a freaking SS game. I dont think I've even heard anyone being a fan of a SS member aside from a few cosplayers enamored by Harley Quinn.

Then now apparently they're making an ANIME on Suicide Squad.

Dafaq, WB? Does the company even know what their customer wants anymore or are they just running out of superhero ideas to milk?

I read a lot of superhero comics as a kid. And I honestly don't remember Suicide Squad ever being popular dude.

The diff with GotG is that the characters are actually likeable, dont behave like aboslute assholes and not at the risk of getting their heads blown off within one movie.

They saw GOTG after SS was already heavily into production and forced a bunch of reshoots and an 80's rock theme to make it more like GOTG.

I don't ever recall people wanting a Superman game after 1999.

It's probably because of Harley since she's now one of the more recognizable DC characters out there that's also very popular. It alao means they can push in some Joker stuff, who is also very popular.

So they just get everybody else to tag along via the Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad didn't go into production proper until a month or so after Guardians of the Galaxy was released. They may have been sitting on the idea of a SS for a while, but GotG's success was def the thing that kicked off the creation of the David Ayer film.
I still remember some of the early marketing for the movie where they were flaunting the film's "hip" licensed soundtrack and obscure characters with the over-the-top graphics art, I was like "they're really just jocking Guardians of the Galaxy, huh?"

What's there to be confused about? Don't yall love Harley Quinn?

People have been begging for a Rocksteady Superman game.

I also agree with MCU's version of the Thunderbolts being a little lame. Loved the concept of a bunch of supervillains masquerading as superheroes for villainous purposes (only for some of them to actually grow to become legitimate heroes).
The MCU's version seems not as interesting by comparison.

It's oneof the few DC movies that are actually watchable

It's a shame because The (Real) Suicide Squad was great, but that 2016 piece of shit was so bad, it was also part of the various reasons why the 2021 film performed poorly at the box-office. I know plenty of people who didn't watch the James Gunn movie because they thought it was going to be more of the 2016 film.

Harley Quinn is a very popular character, and the best way to use her is to put her in Suicide Squad stuff so she has a bunch of people to bounce off of without making her be a "good guy"

The real Suicide Squad is the friends WB made along the way.

Harley draws dimes, so they're going to try and get her into everything

Its because the cast of characters sucks frankly. Theyre just doing the leftover villains in the MCU that are still alive.

Suicide squad game has been in development for many years now, probably before the reboot movie even started being considered.

Harley is to bring in female fans and she is also lesbian or bi. All I know is she canonicallu sex ivy pretty certain.

Not to mention she still brings male fans cause she is attractive.

She absolutely is the draw. Or do you not remember the Halloween after where literally every other girl who could pull it off dressed up as her. Porn as well, couldnt get away from her cosplay for like a solid month.

That was in the 2010s. She (and I'll say Deadpool too, who had similar popularity) have fallen off since then imo

I just feel people like her design, and she's got a good cosplay design, but when it comes time to show up for her character, ehhh.

Two of her movies were quite well received, but ended up doing pretty poorly.

For the first SS movie I have no idea what happaned between its very first reveal trailer and the final product.

WB weren't expecting it to blow up as much as they did. So i guess they panicked and tried to capitalize hard on it for mainstream audiences. But the creative decisions afterward left me baffled.

It's a interesting premise with alot of potential but leaning it towards its comedic path was a mistake in my opinion.

Even so, she wasnt THAT popular. Maybe just among a vocal minority of female cosplayers. I dont know of guys who actually are fans of Harley. Maybe she's average in attraction (but Margot Robbie herself of course is way above that level without all that white makeup)

No. But that wasn't a Suicide Squad project, now was it? It also had that weird title thing going on. I think a lot of people were just confused by the marketing. It wasn't a particularly bad movie or anything, just not presented well to get audiences excited to see it.
