Not like Tony's still making games. -Binding of Isaac games should have a power trip option where I can pick one item to start with. Disable unlocks/achievements, I don't mind. -Cuphead is really difficult to continue caring about or revisit once you beat it. -L4D2 should copy Payday 2 and let players sprint/quick revive/Kingpin/get crits and all that other stuff. You should also be able to escape a special infected on your own. -Plague Knight >> Shovel Knight >>> Spectre Knight >>>>> King Knight. -Jasper Batt Jr is the best No More Heroes character. -Those Persona games look really generic like you know how so many animes are just they go to school and there's demons blah blah and so on. -You should be able to fight people and creatures in Harvest Moon games. -People say Yakuza games are funny but this is untrue. Games just feel so samey now, like checkbox collectathons made using the copypaste Rockstar / Ubisoft open world map checklist formula. Breath of the Wild is boring and tedious after the "new" wears off about 20-30 hours in. It's the poster child of a game with barely anything worth doing and 80 hours of padding. JRPG is a misnomer. The name roleplaying game implies that you have the ability to make meaningful decisions in the role you're playing, and ideally that said decisions will impact the world you're in. Excellent examples of this would be Fallout 1 and 2, New Vegas, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, etc. While there are some JRPGs that would fit this criteria (e.g., Shin Megami Tensei 3, even if limited to the ending selection criteria), the vast majority of them do not, and would better be described as something like "interactive adventure stories" or something, as you're basically just playing out a predetermined story, and if you get to make any choices they don't typically matter or mean anything (like which order you do the split scenarios in FF6, or whether Cloud / Squall will be nice or be a dickhead). There's nothing wrong with this: these days I sort of prefer the simplicity of JRPGs and find choice paralyzing, but that doesn't mean they're RPGs. If the criteria for being an RPG is that you have progression mechanics and you play a role, basically anything with RPG elements (which is pretty much everything now) is an RPG, and therefore if everything is, nothing is, as the moniker is utterly meaningless. Explorable areas (like the levels in Deus Ex or BioShock especially when you can travel back and forth between them as BioShock 1 and 2 allow you to do) are more often than not better than open worlds. Modern multiplayer FPS design is atrocious, and old school carry everything, fire from the hip, health / armor / weapon / powerup pickups around the map, unique weapons / vehicles, designed around the skill ceiling keyboard / mouse allows, from games like Unreal Tournament is far more interesting and fun. While I'm at it, having bots to play against was really cool and fun, and I doubt that will ever happen again. As a reader, most video game stories are pretty meh. There are exceptions to this, like Xenogears and BioShock. Games being designed around multiple routes and replayability is bad. I don't even have time to play all the games I want to play once, much less play through the same game twice with two different protagonists (Star Ocean and many others) or 4 or 5 times just to see all routes / get the real ending (Triangle Strategy, NieR Automata to name a couple).
