I'm firmly of the belief that your mind is who you are. Losing all your memories does indeed make you a different person.

Hmm... somewhat? Ignoring that sometimes memories can come back in such cases...

Ignoring that, one's "tendencies" can be a result on your own specific brain structure. Plus the environment that helped shape you might still be the same. Can end up being similar anyway.

Like if someone made a teleporter. You step into one machine and you are killed, deconstructed and then reconstructed at another machine with your memories transplanted into you 'copy's' brain.

To anyone else, you are the same person. But in reality, you are dead, and the 'copy' has taken over being you.

As far as OP goes, I'd say in a literal sense no. Sure, there are traits of you that might still carry over after the memory loss, but without those memories there's a lot of stuff that would change about you to an outside observer.

You might keep your general temperament and subconscious habits and such, but if all of your friends and loved ones know that you love rock and roll music, but you lose all of your memories about why you like rock and roll, who your favorite bands are, etc., that's a major persoanlity change at the very least.

I guess it depends on what the criteria are for "being the same person".
