Such a great game. It's not just a good workout game but a good game in general.

Also really fucking good for working out, especially if you don't have access to a gym.

If you play it on the higher settings, it can be.

The issue is that its not a very efficient way of working out.

It's a good supplement to it. I still lift weights, but it's still great for cardio and mobility/stretching. Obviously not for building strength.

I should get back to it.
I played it for like 6 months when it came out thanks to the pandemic.

It can vary depending on what you're doing, but generally it seems to be if you play it for long enough, yeah. The Stadium (boss) levels can really kick your ass pushing one particular muscle group to its limit, like giving you hundreds of stairs to high-step up, maxing you do a rowing motion for minutes, etc. RIP me after the one that has you do like 70 squats in a row followed by a boss battle where you can do dozens more squats if you have those set.

The combat can potentially take it a bit away from cardio depending on what you have set, though, like you can just set a bunch of arm strength exercises or yoga poses that focus on balance and limb extension if that's what you'd prefer. My biggest complaint was that the feedback about whether you're doing the exercises correctly isn't really there, so I was left wondering if I was doing the "ab guard" and a bunch of the yoga poses correctly, because I wasn't really feeling anything when I did them.

As Ive said, it can be effective. Its just that the structure of the game slows things down so you could do a similar workout in less time if you werent using the game.

Still, if it motivates you to exercise when you wouldnt otherwise, its good. Its certainly well above things like the Wii Fit.
