Other steaming service will eventually follow. Netflix is essentially the trend starter. The fact that there was news reports that their subscriber base only went up even after the password sharing thing will only incentive others to follow suit. But for now, most don't even have the subscriber base close to Netflix numbers and the last thing they want to do is piss off the ones they already have.

I mean I get why Netflix is doing it. I'd do it too if I were them, because it's the right business decision. Still annoying though. And if it ends up fucking me over when I travel I will be very annoyed.

I do have a question though. Why am I still able to watch Netflix at my office when my residence is 30 minutes away and is the designated "primary household"?

It's fucked up because Netflix explicitly advertised paying into higher screen count to share with others before.

You're paying for 4 screens within your household, not your discord buddies and your ex-girlfriend that live in different states.

I'm curious why this wouldn't be the default behavior. Why would you subscribe to something that doesn't have anything you want to watch?

I believe it'll depend on the device you use, because I was reading that as long as you log-in on your "home" network every 30 days, the device you use can access Netflix wherever.

Presumably that falls under having something to watch on the service.

Just the fact that the original agreement was "X amount of screens, regardless of where they are" and now they are changing it when they were no longer comfortable with how rampant password sharing was.

Y'know I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they piloted a contract model where you agree to pay X amount for Y screens across Z time period. And then still have the sharing restrictions on that.
