To be clear he is being tried for child neglect not an accessory to murder or anything like that.

I think even if there is a conviction this is being overturned on appeal. A cop is not a "caregiver" for children at school. Moreover, US law dictates that cops do not have to risk their lives for others.

This guy should be fired. He should be shamed. But a crime? Not in the way US law is currently written.

I would say that, not linking it up to this case in particular, depending on your chosen profession you have a duty to fight off your brain's wrong responses in certain situations and if you fail to you should be held liable.

Then he shouldn't have been a cop. It's bullshit that he's perfectly fine with upholding his duties when it comes to harassing and ruining the lives of black school children as a resource officer, but when it actually comes to protecting people he wants to do a different job. Fuck Scott Peterson and fuck all those bullshit ass cops. They'll happily take all the perks of the profession but none of the risk.

Self preservation is natural instinct. Dude probably lost his job, retirement, and any chance at being an officer again. To me, that is being held liable. He doesnt need angry mobs and keyboard warriors calling him a coward and calling for his imprisonment.

All those kids had where their delicate bodies and he allowed them to die while he hid. Throwing him in jail accomplishes plenty; it's a deterrent and a warning to other pieces of shit.
