That's some pretty weak reasoning for it. Because it'll make some groups ask to have it taken down? Ok. Well fuck them. There wouldn't be a LGBT pride flag if people like that weren't jerks in the first place.

There's a reason nobody made a topic about this when the story first dropped. The folks who would be most vocal on CE won't touch the story with a 10 foot pole.

without reading the article does public property mean government property or people's own businesses? because telling someone they can't fly a flag at their own business would be sus af. not having any flags but government flags on government property would be ok as long as they are consistent with that and not just excluding one group

As a result of the vote, the only additional flags that Hamtramck will allow are those that represent the citys immigrant heritage.

What's an immigrant heritage flag?

It seems humans should have the reasoning and logic to make decisions with some sort of nuance.

Also FYI their issue with pride flags predates the current government:

1) Only government. Specifically mentioned that private businesses / home may fly the flags as they please.

Residents and businesses will not be restricted from flying Pride or other flags on private property.

2) All flags were banned with the exception of flags from immigrant's nations/background.

IIRC I don't think it was that the town will do the call. Just that the 5 times a day call wouldn't be classified as disruptive noise pollution.

The vote, which supporters of the prayer calls acknowledged was merely symbolic, was 1,462 to 1,200, or 55 percent to 45 percent.

That's the point. With so many Trump appointees in the courts, fascism has a change to be codified through the passing of outrageous discriminatory laws that then get challenged in a playing field where the cards are stacked against the people being discriminated against.

Also I used to live in a fairly blue part of the state. Right wing city councils and school boards are running rampant. Libraries closed, offices of diversity shuttered, health departments firing their directors to replace with anti-vaxxers. Clowns like Sheriff Dar Leaf seizing voting machines under the direction of Mike Lindell. There is a ton of AstroTurf funds and candidates gaining ground. My friend successfully was part of a group that saved their library from being closed.
