OceanGate Expeditions listed a job posting for a submersible pilot on its web site while a frantic search and rescue mission was underway for five missing tourists in the doomed Titan bound for the Titanic wreckage site.

Social media was abuzz on Friday after screenshots of the ad, which was posted before the Coast Guard announced on Thursday that all five people aboard the Titan had perished, were widely circulated.

OceanGate posted the ad in search of a Submersible Pilot/Marine Technician who would help manage and operate our fleet of manned submersibles and support vessels.

We are looking for a committed and competent individual with combination of strong mechanical and interpersonal skills who can work on sensitive marine equipment, perform regular maintenance and operate complex systems to support dive operations, the ad stated.

The ad sparked a slew of macabre jokes on social media, with one user quipping, I cant work under that kind of pressure.

Can I apply with gaming experience and absolutely no will to live? wrote another an apparent reference to reports that OceanGate used a $50 gaming controller to steer the Titan submersible.

Heard they have some openings in upper management as well, wrote another.

If you can't pilot a pressure-vessel 12000 feet down, with an Atari 2600 joystick, get better.

Nargeolet was a French researcher who didn't work for OceanGate, and he wasn't the pilot, either. The pilot was Rush, the CEO.

Escape rockets won't do a hell of a lot of good when the submersible has burst.
All you'll get is the rockets, and fragments of submersible.

you deck the ship out to withstand a nuclear impact so that it can both withold under sea pressure and blast a tsunami effect from the ocean floor to propel itself back to land

Just weave a non-implosion charm into it too while you're at it

I doubt this company will be around too much longer. Their reputation is trash now. Plus, as we know there were 4 wealthy individuals that died. I don't care what kind of waiver they might of signed, those families are gonna end up probably banding together and get the best team of lawyers that can find ways around it to go after them.

Isn't ignoring safety regulations a crime? Isn't the company guilty since corporations are people. So everyone in the company is going to jail right?
Oh so now corporations aren't people... Right.
