What kind of schedule are you working now?

From like 18-26 I worked in restaurants and bars and always hoped for the days I wouldnt have to work late nights anymore. Nowadays, I find myself reminiscing on those jobs and time of my life in general. I think its a classic grass is always greener on the other side type of deal.

I've worked nothing but day shift Mon - Thur or Fri.

Currently doing Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm

In my entire working life I've never worked at night, on weekends or holidays.

The industry I currently work in is white collar office but client deadlines can often force working outside of any normal schedule.

not really

Being active during the day is pretty natural

Might as well be seated in air conditioning for it

Honestly, I used the working schedule was better for making plans in the future rather than the constant change I had in college but after years but as the years have drug on it gets pretty boring.

Honestly, other than the awkwardness of being unable to go to other services that close at 5, there's nothing to really dislike about a job shift like this. However, I do think that having enough time off is an important part of it -- 6 weeks of vacation or regular chances to do 4-day weeks, something like that. The fatigue and feeling of falling behind on everything else in life gets real if you don't get enough time off.

I'm at 7-3:30

The key is to find fulfillment outside of work ie. hobbies, dating, projects, etc

What's 9-5? Do you mean 8-5?

I'm mostly used to it by now, but I'm definitely hoping that someday, the 40 hour workweek becomes 32 hours or less. Or at least that I can retire in my late 60s and that by then late 60s will be like late 40s was for Boomers.

Technically my schedule is 8:30-5:00 but in reality, I work whenever I want as long as I put in my 40.

I wish my job had a WFH or even hybrid policy like this to break up the monotony of going to the office everyday. There are some days where theres nothing to even do and Im just clicking around on my computer counting down till 5pm. Not necessarily complaining about that, but theres no reason why I cant be doing that and responding to emails in the comfort of my home.

My schedule is 7-5. I work 4 10s. I prefer it over 5 8s, but the 40 hour work week just sucks in general. Most of it I'm just bullshiting.

Same regarding being there for more longer than I'm actually working, but the nature of my job is that I need to be there in case something emergent happens, so I just take it as it is and find ways to pass time and relax without guilt. I'm always 100% on top of the work when there is work and very diligent about details and record-keeping, just don't believe in trying to make more work than there actually is.
