It's basically the [Mel Brooks movie spoilers, I guess] Blazing Saddles ending retooled for a meta MCU show. Although it's going to age like milk the instant Disney+ overhauls its UI, lol.

Yeah... I don't care for what just happened. I don't care for it. That was pretty random for the penultimate episode.

What is this random nonsense of her in abomination's old cell is the joke they already had the set built and want to reuse it as much as possible?

Shulkie is the original fourth wall breaker and what they do in the final episode is fantastic and a homage to stuff she used to do in the comics all the time.

I do feel a little insulted. TV show, you don't need to tell me how I should enjoy my media or that I should enjoy you just as a legal comedy you are, I was already enjoying you for what you were.

That's not what they were doing there. The final episode was Jen retaking control of her show to tell the kind of story that she wanted it to be, not telling the viewer what they should want.

Apparently Matt is the Marvel mattress. Just the biggest slut in the entire universe. So him having a one-nighter with Jen is comic accurate.

It's a good show, but it lost steam for me as it went along. I loved the first episode, in fact it's the only episode of an MCU D+ show I watched a second time. I've got no real love for Daredevil, so while I thought he was great in his appearance, I wasn't really hyped for it either. The final episode was executed fine (and seems perfectly on-brand for the source material), but the problem is that meta humor - even finely-crafted meta humor - is just kinda played out at this point in time. So quick, subtle meta gags are a lot more palatable than long, elaborate bits (most of Jen's brief quips to camera were pretty funny).

After reflecting on it for a bit I liked the show overall. Right out the gate I was in love with the casting choice of tatiana maslany so no matter what this show did odds are I was gonna like it.

I definitely would like more of this boston legal vibe of comedic court cases with marvel cameos. This should totally be like harvey birdman attorney at large but with stronger writing and more of a budget.

I definitely laughed at the climax scene right before she utterly decimated the 4th wall, with titania breaking the wall and hulk somehow dropping in and jen just going "what the hell"

So she-hulk's thing is kinda like deadpool huh?

Marvel's Assembled, is that a behind-the-scenes type of show, worth watching?

Still, since the whole ridiculous secret organization of shehulk blood stealers went nowhere, maybe they could have just not had that nonsense and just focused more on hilarious cases like the rest of the show. Unless they were planting the seeds for red hulk? Red she-hulk? I'd like a red she-hulk

I liked how most episodes ended in subverting clichs, but I also think could have been better (I guess you could say that about any MCU show). I would love to see more seasons.

I enjoy most subversions of expectations, but I kind of would have liked more sexual tension with daredevil instead of bam they hooked up instantly since now the sexual tension is gone and that's the best part of an ally mcbeal type show with Boston legal quality humor and superhero cases.

Yeah but her saying to Kevin (the obvious audience stand-in) "those are my stakes" is definitely a no duh situation, telling not showing. Like yeah we know that her stakes are balancing being Jen and she-hulk and learning to accept who she is, so needing to defend it and point blank say it just felt a little weak, like if a character goes "I am sad now" after a sad scene like no duh.

They probably felt pressured to spell things out in big capital letters because the majority of the audience was still dumbfounded at that point over the show going full meta ending. Couldn't say for sure though, I only watched it once and can't remember most of the specifics.

I definitely agree with all that, the quick meta gags were way funnier for me throughout the show than something drawn out.

The comic book character maybe have done it first, but this ending reminded me a little of Deadpool 2's ending which had its fair share of meta to generate a happy ending (much to our enjoyment)

I now want to read her comics if it's true what everyone's saying that she's all about that meta 4th wall break stuff even in comic book stories. Are her comics what I'm looking for with regards to funny ally mcbeal type court cases? When it comes to comics I've been more of a DC/DCAU reader, haven't really liked or delved into Marvel too much besides MCU.

I just watched it. It was the worst of the MCU so far. The last episode was particularly awful.

It's a great show, enjoyed it a ton.

I definitely am going back to watch the individual funny moments, I think it's made up of small funny moments throughout the show but they haven't really formed a cohesive narrative.

Now I definitely agree with the other guy saying it should have been a more standard 30-40 minute show like Aly Mcbeal or BL so that they could really flesh out the court cases and make them entertaining. Also hire actual writers for them next time.

Ok something I've been thinking after rewatch. If Blonsky isn't a bad guy or the bad guy, why does the show end with him going back to jail as some kind of victory or triumph? For hosting the bad guys' event (be it knowingly or unknowingly)? For turning into hulk-abomination and ignoring his power restrainer, the exact same thing that Jen did?

I don't remember it being a triumph, more just accepting that he did wrong. The difference between him and Jen is that she did it because she was attacked and he was doing it to make dumb self-help seminars.

It wasn't like he did it to go commit crimes. It was another thing wrong with the incredibly shit ending.

He was doing it as a way to make running the retreat possible since he would need money.

He had seven wives that were said to be supporting him, he probably didn't need the money.

And also, that still doesn't qualify as a good reason for violating his parole.

On the one hand yes you're technically correct but on the other hand you can't keep throwing that back in his face, either he's paid his debt to society or he hasn't, but jen making him say that's the price for his actions doesn't really jive

His parole is part of his debt for society and he violated it for the sake of a self-help seminar.

Like it sucks for him but he actively chose to do something stupid that he knew would put him back in prison if he got caught. I think he even removed his ankle monitor, right? You can't do that. And you don't get the benefit of the doubt like Jen does because, again, he fucked up an entire borough of NYC.

I just want to know if Blonsky is going to learn magic now that he's in Kamar-Taj and become one of the truly most dangerous things in the MCU, or if he's just gonna chill in his room and occasionally join Madisynn and Wongers for movie night
