Like no fucking way did you just Game of Thrones the fuck out of me and do that at the end.

And speaking of Game of Thrones.. From what I understand the game was inspired by ASOIAF. And I gotta say they did a fucking good job. There's times where it feels like this could be set in like.. Final Fantasteros..

Bahamut is good friends with Balerion.. they go way back.

No spoilers please. How long is it? Im only up to where you learn combat. I dont want to rush through it and then get mad over having to wait a week to continue.

The story, voice acting, writing seems legimately great.

Normally i can't stand JRPGs because I find them "cringe" inducing and lame. This is shaping up to be the best story I've seen in a game for awhile.

LOL @ anyone that didnt listen when we said YoshiP would save FF. Weve been clamoring for him to be involved with a mainline FF for damn near a decade. Kino incoming lads.

Anyway TC, it was more Witcher than GoT for me but yeah its a really striking design

The dialogue, voice acting and tone is incredible. The characters actually feel like people with how they talk and interact and the quality of the VA is a huge part of that.

I'm impressed so far. I suck at action games so I don't really like them. And I was doing ok in the last fight until for whatever reason I was failing every dodge and died. I'm excited and hoping to learn more complex combat. The latter half of the demo seemed like the strategy was to spam cool down abilities on a cycle.

Yeah I'm not a big action game dude but I was totally getting into it. Had a point where I felt pretty slick chaining together combos and whatever they called it when I dodged well.

At this point I'm just eagerly awaiting exacting my revenge on the Queen and the Empire.

Never had a demo have such an impact on me. I was straight up in love with the brotherly bond and how it reminded me of my own. The King was such a likeable dude. AND THEY DID THAT?!

I just was not expecting that. Like yo.. are you taking the glorious lore and world building of Final Fantasy and combining it with a refined modern form of storytelling? Plus blood, sex and the word fuck?

I couldn't help but feel the first episode of GoT influencing that whole introduction.

Clive the talented swordsman who is treated like shit by his mother. Couldn't help but feel a bit of a Jon Snow thing there.

The Queen just reeks of Cersei.

The King had that duty/honor driven vibe like Ned. Warm loving father kinda thing.

Joshua had a bit of a Bran vibe.

Jill is kind of a sweet Sansa.

The characters are definitely unique and the parallels aren't perfect. But the whole vibe just felt Thronesy to me.

Man... I was talking about this game on another forum and someone hit me with a realization that made me mad all over again lol.

He brought up the fact that Clive's mother tried to seduce and have sex with Elwin only after she knew he was taking Joshua with him no matter what. Implying she was making a last ditch effort to get pregnant because she knew what was going to happen and there was a very real chance Joshua would die.

I swear to god... it's ON SIGHT.

One thing on Jill though, and I'll add spoiler tags: if we're staying on a Stark comparison here, Jill to me is more like a cross between Sansa and Arya. Jill is an eventual party member who knows how to fight and is Shiva's dominant on top of that. She definitely was kept as a slave for 13+ years though like Clive, so there's an adult Sansa comparison in there, too.

Maybe that's why I mostly didn't care for the characters and setting, never did like Game of Thrones.

Honestly reminded me more of Ivalice/Tactics style characters than anything which would make sense considering Yoshida and the team are big Matsuno fans.

Agreed I dont think any demo comes close either. I stopped after a couple hours cause I decided that was enough to convince me it was good and I didnt want to finish it and have to wait a week to play the full game lol.

Uh shes also a combination of Theon since shes a ward from the northern lands.

Also when they find the marlboro and say "this far south"

And when they shoot the owl Elein had sent.

Its all very on the nose, but I dont mind. I imagine it keeps carving its own vibe from there on.
