The 17th amendment somewhat fixed things, imagine if they were still picking senators? Frnakly our entire system of representation and electoral system are no longer compatible with the modern day. We have grown too large to continue to manage by "districts". Add to the fact the house is artificially capped at 435 compounds the problem. Let alone the huge disparity in voting power the senate gives to low population states like WY.
