Not only indie games, but actual huge budget games with already millions dollars worth if marketing budget. I'm not complaining though.

It's likely because the recent increase in game prices has affected sales significantly. People want to vet a 70-80 dollar purchase, harder to justify an impulse buy the closer you get to $100.

Even more so with so many AAA releases being MTX/Battlepass milking dogshit.

Demos should be like 1/2 the entire game imo

Capcom and to a large extent SE have been weirdly nice about actually having demos for almost all of their big games.

Actually, it seems japanese companies in general are just being good sports and putting demos, even bamco put out a demo for tales.

It's crummy AAA western companies that seem to refuse to put demos for any of their games. Even though it would really help to gauge whether or not the battle system and gameplay is to our liking.

Which is weird because in the ps3 Gen it seemed the opposite was happening, western developers were the ones putting out demos and Japanese devs seemed to refuse to acknowledge it.

I know multiple people that pre-ordered FFXVI purely because of the demo.

I assume that's why they don't do demos. They don't want people to try out a sample and potentially decide they don't like it before actually buying the game. Which is a shame because it can also be a good way to get people interested who otherwise weren't before. But I guess they don't want to take that risk.
