Makes me wonder if some other news outlet said something untrue or insulting, which had a negative enough impact on the dude's life, and by default assumed his rescuer had a part in spreading the bullshit..

Being saved by someone doesn't mean you need to kiss their ass for the rest of your life. Which includes but not limited to someone being part of your Instagram.

Are y'all just assuming that money was made because the Malaysian guy that was rescued appeared on television? Or is there a source I'm missing?

I'm struggling to find the Malaysian interview, and I don't speak Malay so I don't know if it would even be worth finding.

Its interesting that Sherpa is a surname though, didn't know that.
