My cat would have torn it to shreds.

When I was a kid, our cat brought in half of a neighbour's pet rabbit.

Distressing for everyone (except the cat).

Yeah, I saw our barn cat eating on a still-living baby rabbit once. Not a pleasant sight.

Unfortunately, there is a good chance the rabbit still died of a heart attack after it was released. They have a really high resting heart rate anyways, and are easily scared to death.

I remember one time at a party a guest's dog brought back a dead rabbit. This happened over Easter weekend and the kids joked the Easter Bunny was killed.

Cats are pest control.
Humans just tricked themselves to find 'em cute along the way.
Don't let the size fool you, they still think themselves vicious predators.

I've always wanted a pet rabbit but they are very fragile and emotional creatures to have one you'd need to be around it practically 24/7 and if not you someone else it trusts least it become afraid and kill itself with a fear attack.

Heartwarming, but consider that animal rescue videos are popular, so people have begun staging them (including putting animals in real danger) in order to draw views.

I don't know this content creator, but there's every chance that the unfilmed prequel is him locking a baby rabbit in the bathroom, then he films a video of him blaming the cat for it, then locks cat in a different bathroom to release the rabbit out on the lawn.

Maybe he isn't that kind of slime, but presuming it was the cat, his first instinct was still to start recording before releasing the rabbit.

If by odd you mean utterly heartbreaking...

How did that cat catch that rabbit in such a way that it brought him to the house. What was the cat holding it in its mouth like it would a baby kitten? Something doesn't seem right.

Cats bring "food" to their people owners all the time since they think people can't hunt.
