80/80

You got frosted tips. Macy Gray. Weird CGI/Special Effects. Sum 41 in the credits. And a song tailor made for the movie by Chad Kroeger and the lead singer of Saliva.

Man, I seriously love this movie.

The special effects in the movie were pretty great, except like one or two of the goblin that were completely cgi

Absolutely. Aside from the Spectacular Spider-Man (which is fucking peak), the Raimi films (including Spider-Man 3, fight me) still remains as some of the greatest things to come out of the SM IP, imo.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Yeah. Take a look at the X-Men films. I liked them as a kid, but holy hell, did those movies age like milk over time. Even the "good" ones got me looking at them sideways.
Meanwhile, I can go back and watch Spider-Man and have a blast every time. Those movies just tapped on a timeless level of charm that I can't really describe.

Bump: Not sure if this is a hot take or not, but I just wanted to add that, poorly dated CGI aside, the MTV cartoon from 2004 is also great and didn't deserve to be cancelled after one season. Though, it supposedly serving as a bridge between the first two Raimi films was a weird decision that I'm not upset got retconned.

And when you really think about it -- it's truly one of a kind. When will you ever see a another Spider-Man animated series geared towards an older audience? That's right; that shit's never happening again. Especially under Disney. Really fun show.

People were straight up dying in that show. And that final episode was wild too. Again, you'll never see a Spider-Man animated show push the envelope like that.

the Raimi spiderman movies hold up so well. The fighting looks so much better than the modern movies, maybe because the Raimi movies don't over-rely on CGI so much

I wouldn't say it looks better than most modern movies, but I always thought they were great for what they were.
I still think about the two major fights between Spidey and Dic Ock in SM2 at the Bank/Clocktower and the Train. As a kid, I noticed the weird CGI during those scenes (though I couldn't explain what it was), but it didn't distract me. In fact, the way they looked and moved unnaturally enhanced the scene for me. It's like, yeah, they look like this when they fight because they're too superhuman beings.

Nowadays, I recognize it as somewhat shoddy CGI, but I still like to go with the explanation younger me came up with lol

Watch Scary Movie 2 for more early 2000s nostalgia.

This is the song they even play during the credits. Can't get more nostalgia than Nelly.

Sum 41 was in the credits?

Also I didn't even know who that singer in the parade was, had no idea it was a recent new singer they were trying to push as maybe a crossplatform marketing opportunity.

God I loved the first movie so much, and playing the first game on gamecube to death only added to that, replaying it over and over as spiderman, as green goblin, as mj, it was freaking great.

Can't say I was a fan of mtv spiderman though. I wanted to like it because spiderman, but it just made me want to watch the movie instead.

I've watched the first 2 movies to death in the early and mid 2000s, where were these weird cgi scenes you guys noticed? The only movie I remember going "holy crap at that green screen" was peter jackson's king kong like when the sailors were running away from the giant animals. Oh and the Matrix 2, that was easily the first thing I ever noticed, not even from the movie but from the box office trailer with the Neo and Smiths fight

Yeah. There was even a music video that they integrated Spider-Man into to go with the song.

I would love to see Sum41 and The Offsprings live. Especially knowing that the former is ending.
