Depends on the field, I guess. What is your friends degree going to be for?

If it helps you get promoted, maybe? I have mine to teach, but my wife is finishing a Master's in Business Psychology (which will open up new job paths)

Depends on the industry. Businesses can often value things like an MBA. It's not unusual for accountants to get a masters in accountancy since the CPA exam requires a certain number of college credits.

I'd ask other people in your profession.

If you mean to be in education, I'd say no, if that's what you mean. You should only get degrees that will give you something back.

As was mentioned, depends on the field. Look at what the people who are where you'd like to be have.

I'm an accountant and graduated with only 120 credits for my Bachelor's; to become a CPA you need 150 so I just went back to get that milestone before sitting for the CPA exam.

I have found my MA in Economics to be a useful credential as a federal government employee.
