It's a smart gun actually...

https://smartgun.com/

Just for home defense and the occasional recreation at a range. I've always been hesitant to get something unless I felt 100% confident it would be safe to have around my family.

What are your thoughts on smart guns and whether or not they'll help our gun issues?

It is pretty cool tech tbh, Forgotten Weapons has a good breakdown on it. I'll probably wait a couple more gens before I seriously consider buying one though.

I think it's not so much about making it safer for TC, but he could be living with children who may accidentally get their hands on it.

nope you handle that through the dock station that comes with it. There is no internet connection attached to this and no one gets access to that data. The biometric data lives locally on the gun only.

You don't have to store it the way the video shows it. That's just a promo for how safe they are confident the gun is.

That's what I was asking, do they feel safer with it, (as opposed to a regular firearm). I should have been more specific.

Yea, I don't trust an electronic to survive the kinetic force equal to a major league pitch too many times. Plus you now also need to worry about keeping it charged and the inevitable death of the battery.
Don't know why you'd pay nearly $2000 for that when you could have spent less then $200 for a .38 revolver and either kept it in a locked drawer or in a trigger lock.

1 charge lasts for months with normal use and the gun can be fired continuously for several hours.
