We hold a huge widely popular national selection where 28 acts compete to represent us and there are always at least a couple entries that will work well at Eurovision. Our national final is decided 50/50 by televote and jury groups just like Eurovision itself, usually leading to us having an entry that will have a wide appeal.

These are the national runner-ups from our 3 latest Eurovision wins and all 3 would have done well at Eurovision too if chosen to represent us.

That sounds so extremely British tbh haha. And you could totally pull off something like Melodifestivalen (our national selection) if the BBC really wanted. Cuz the organisation of Eurovision 2023 was stellar.

We have no excuse for not doing well and have shown we can do great and effectively win (fuck Russia, Go Ukraine aside) when we put effort in.

Especially with how dominant British music is globally, alongside America's.

Absolutely! You could do super well almost every year if you really wanted. We are #3 in the world when it comes to exporting music after you two and we use that talent in our Eurovision selection, so that is also a reason why we do well. Two of the songwriters behind Tattoo for example: one work with foreign artists like Lady Gaga etc and another with k-pop groups like BTS.

Edit: Moa Carlebecker, the mentioned songwriter who work a lot in South Korea, wrote the American Song Contest winner last year btw.

I imagine the secret is that you take eurovision more seriously than most other countries.

Surely f people here in Denmark cared, they'd put in an effort to not send garbage to the contest every year.

Not to say that Sweden doesn't have a more "robust" music culture, you surely do. But really, the stinkers we toss at this thing has to be on purpose.
