Sure seems like Rashid is coming this month - that's a very happy surprise since I'd been assuming they weren't going to drop him until likely the night the Evo wrapped.

I still think they'll drop him the day after Evo or something. Wouldn't make sense to not have a trailer planned for the end of Evo.

The end of Evo is in late summer so honestly by then it wouldn't be unreasonable to have at least a teaser of A.K.I. in addition to whatever outfits/stages/whatever they're going to roll out.

It's kinda wild how this first season already has two rescues from SFV (plus A.K.I. as a likely successor to F.A.N.G.) compared to how much of a wet fart SF4 has proven to be as introducing recurring characters goes, outside of Juri who's been an absolute runaway success to the point of being on the base roster here. I guess they do at least get points for the playable debut of Poison, and I'd love to see C. Viper and Hakan get brought back some day.

Seth was brought back to 5 as well

I knew I forgot one! Seth does feel like they barely count considering what a huge transformation they had in 5 but I'd definitely love to see that version of the character continue forward.

Based on her design she appears to be a practitioner of Dokushu Kenpo, of which F.A.N.G. was previously stated to be the only living user, and he had a separate comic thingy set after SFV where he takes in a girl as his apprentice.

Made it to Gold with Dhalsim. Didn't really take that long either. That's higher than I got in SFV using my main, Menat. Seems like the win streak mechanics make it easier to go up the ranks. Tonight several people were starting to not rematch my Dhalsim, so maybe that means I'm getting better, heh.

Anyway, the mechanics for releasing unlocking stuff seem pretty obtuse here. I didn't really pay much attention to Fight Money for SFV for awhile, but at least I was able to just ignore it and let it build up. Then when I was ready to do something with it or play other modes to build it up, I bought stuff. In SF6, I haven't been doing much besides training and online matches, and have mostly ignored kudos. But it sounds like if you buy the Rashid Battle Pass Premium rewards, kudos you obtained before that point don't count? It makes me feel like there's an ideal way to manage kudos and seems more complicated than I care to understand. Also, is the Rashid Battle Pass needed to actually get Rashid, or are those just rewards?

It's only to get the rewards. To actually get Rashid, you need to buy the character pass or I guess the individual character when he releases if they have that as an option.

The 250 fighter coins you get is good for exactly 1 battle pass.

kudos arent too bad to get. iirc its 30 for every ranked/casual/battle hub match you play. the 10th and 20th of each month is an event in the hub with golden cabinets that give double kudos. theres also the daily/weekly challenges that so far are just play or win matches from a cabinet. that

you also get 5 for offline vs matches meaning you can turbo controller it if need be.

you get some from world tour but i think its like 1 for every npc you fight with a character style. so technically exists but not worth going for. theres also a limited amount from character trials/guides

yeah no real reason to not have rashid at evo. no one knowing how to fight him is countered by people not knowing how to play him. unless theres something functionally broken about him like ex moves not costing meter or something

Fingers crossed that Rashid's not too overturned on release, I've been having a lot of fun watching this game at a high level and I'd hate to have like 4 Rashids in top 6 at EVO.

This feels like such a cheesy thing to say, but this game is it. After a ton of false starts over the years since my youth when I actually cared about fighting games (but was never actually good at them) this is the game to legitimately suck me in to the point that I'm actually really learning the game. I have a blast every time I'm playing it and very often when I'm not playing, I'm thinking of new stuff to try out that I actually do successfully incorporate into my play the next time I sit down.

The systems are just so damn good, it feels so great to play and there's an abundance of support in the game itself (what a concept) to give you a strong foundation and provide multiple roads for people to actually start to dig into the game. For so long fighting games have struggled with expanding their audience but this feels like the first one to actually successfully lay down an on-ramp for people who are interested in it.

I finally got my first real losing streak in Gold 2, which took me back to Gold 1. I went like 2-10 or something like that. I had 3 big win streaks, before that, so it was due. Same sort of thing that's happened with SFIV and SFV. It's perfectly normal. I try to take it as an opportunity to try to get better habits, be less predictable, and learn to react to opponents better (I mean, I try to do those things when I'm winning too, but losing can be a better motivator). Afterwards, if lessons are learned well, ranking up can happen again.

I feel you, I had a similar experience yesterday and it's definitely frustrating. I must've played like 25 ranked sets yesterday and I don't think I won a single one. A bunch of times I got so close and then dropped a game-winning combo or got hit with a wake up CA or something else that was entirely my fault. Legitimately might be the least clutch man alive.

Plummeted straight from Plat 3 to Plat 1. I recognized early in the session that I was in a bad mood, and I knew I should have stopped playing because it was making me play worse, but then I was like 'I can't end on a loss' and then I kept fucking losing lmao.

You need to recognise early that it's just not your day and quit. If you keep playing you just get titled and lose loads of points. I'm up to Plat 4 with Gief now.

yeah some days just arent your days. and playing ranked doesnt help since those points despite meaning nothing mean everything :/

taking a break is good. you could also try hub matches. nothing on the line and if you go up against a character you struggle against its good practice

I made it to Platinum with Dhalsim. I have at least one win over every character except Kimberly - only faced her two times and lost both, and that was pretty early. Ranking inflation is definitely a factor. In SF5, theyd tell me before matches that I was top 100k in North America, in the high silver ranks, but Im at 114k for NA in SF6. Ive lost to each character at least once, and somehow my statistically best match up is against other Dhalsims at 89% win rate. In SF4, the mirror match was I think bottom 3 in terms of percentage for him, so thats funny.

and I want to figure out how to give these out. I saw an option when watching some replays, but is there another way?

The thumbs up thing pops up near the top right at the end of a ranked set for me. I've never actually given one but i think you press triangle.

Love that the thumbs up is so easily missable and ignorable that most people don't even know it exists and yet there's an achievement for getting six hundred of them.
