Yes or no?

So the immortal thing has a few rules. Things can still happen to you (think about getting trapped alone somewhere, for example, or being forced into a coffin). No one else is immortal, so the people you know will die way early all the time. You will still age. You still have to eat. You can still get sick. But otherwise it's a long, long, long, long life for you. And you may never leave Earth perhaps, until the planet is destroyed by the waning sun. Then you're free.

Idea is that I don't think most people want to be immortal truly. There are downsides.

Take da deal? You trying to live forever bro?!

I'd take immortality if I got to choose when to end it. I know what it feels lie to have nobody. It sucked but with immortality I'd make it a mission to go out and meet people. I know they'd be temporary. But as a introvert they are just a means of keeping my sanity in check.

And not a second earlier? Even if you survive that's still asphyxiation for quite some time (no ship could come get you), one of the most painful ways to die that you would now have to live through.

That seems like a needlessly cruel rule.

Yeah, I was on board until that. Also seems to imply that with it, would come the negatives of age and it'd get to a point where shit just doesn't work anymore so you look like a burlap sack thrown out in the sun who just can't move or do anything. That'd fucking suck.

Good question. You still age, but it's fractions to what everyone else is. 500 years for example, barely any aging. 10 generations might go by before you're even close to like 25

If you are immortal you shouldnt age at all. At some point your body still becomes to old to work. The only reason we die at a certain age is because our bodies wear down and the dna cant repair itself. Immortality thats still effected by time is dumb. Ageing at a slowed rate only makes sense if you still have a lifespan, even if 1000 becomes the new 100.

That still leaves millions of years of being an atrophic old bag of bones in a dried skin husk.

The remaining lifetime until sun swallows the earth is 7.59 billion years. That's billion with a b. 10 generations is 300 years. That's 300 with only those digits and no more digits, whereas 7.59 billion has all of these digits: 7590000000. That's a hell of a long time of being way older than a person was made to last.

Equivalent to. I said you'd die around time for the sun to explode before anything, only because you have no more planet. Could make it worse and say your still sitting there immortal in space, but, just like a vamp, there are a couple ways out, and you even have less ways.

I really hope that youre a troll, rather than being as dense as youre coming across on here.

Immortality is not real. Its a fictional concept which takes many forms (often with the idea that its a curse, rather than a blessing).

The one youre offering sounds like the worst version Ive ever heard of, and youve had to change your definition multiple times when challenged. Other people are not the problem here. Its you.

Tell that to the greek version where you can't die, but still age, and eventually just become immobile and begging for death that will never come due to your own body atrophying to such an extent. And its not like you are being tortured. You have a hot goddess for an eternal lover, and she still loves you forever. You just eventually age to such an extent that you can no longer move. And no, she doesn't let you have the mercy of death, that was part of the deal.

Which is why a better poll would be "You get a million dollars. But you are now 10 years old for the rest of your life (eternal youth with a twist), and you cannot die of old age or things that result from the long term accumulation of time (so lead poisoning, any cancer you wouldn't have gotten before 10, any disease that a half healthy human will not catch unless their immune system is shot from decaying with age, etc), only from other things.

Would you take this version? You are stuck as a kid and can die from anything a kid would reasonably die from, including lack of food or water, or from short term diseases, or getting shot, etc. But you get a million bucks and maybe 10 years of leeway before people start really figuring out "oh, that guy is still a kid. Why is that?".

For the sake of the argument, lets say that reality and people's memories of you is warped so that you are back to being a ten year old as far as anyone is concerned at the start, so you do not need to worry about the fact that you are suddently ten again, and that fact messing with everyone who knows you no longer recognizing you. You may, however, be back in school again.

This is such a poorly thought-out topic. Put details like this in the OP.

That said it's still a no. Any type of immortality where I could potentially get stuck somewhere, unable to get out or die, is a major no.
