I still have not found any Lynels aside from one in a forest in Akkala. He was just a basic red one too and he got melted because I have some fairly powerful weapons.

Not sure about on the surface, but every stable on the surface corresponds to a Lynel location in the depths.

Completely renders them useless, basically turns them into statues as you wail on those big meaty Lynel cheeks.

I honestly feel like there are fewer wandering Lynels on the surface compared to BotW.

Not like you don't get your chance at them, thankfully.

I've found quite a few Lynels above ground. Some areas off the top of my head (spoiler tagging them in case people want the surprise of coming across them).

- RIsoka Snowfield (Western Gerudo Highlands)
- Oseira Plains/Nautelle Wetlands (directly to the right of the Gerudo region cliffs)
- Kamah Plateau (part of the jungle area of Faron)
- North Akkala Valley

I think there's a few other areas I've ran into them, but I don't remember where.

They probably cut the number on the surface and made up for it with the ones in the Depths. I know I can probably find them if I really wanted to, I'm just surprised I've hardly stumbled across any by simply playing. In BOTW the first place I went to off the Plateau was the Coliseum, where I got my ass kicked by the Lynel there. It was pretty memorable.

And don't forget BOTW, as part of the Zora questline (which you are nudged to at the start) has you go up on a mountain and sneak around a Lynel to get a bunch of shock arrows.

Yup, although for me the Zora questline was one of the last things I did in BOTW. By then I had already killed quite a few Lynels.

First Lynel I came across was right near that pirate ship in the south that you attack as part of a sidequest

My first was in the Depths, infused with gloom, and with rock armor. Fun fight.

Also just went to the Gerudo Desert/Town and met my first flying Redead. Thanks I hate it.

Oh god, they gave the Lynels in the depths rock armor? That sounds miserable, and I totally don't want to know where it is.

So when did you realize that the lightroots are just the corresponding shrine names in reverse?

There's definitely one northwest of the tower in the Tabantha region.

I named Zelda's horse Tetra

I've only found one Lynel on the surface, and it was a white-mane. It was near a shrine/shrine quest in a field around Lanayru.

It did not go well.

Shortly after someone on here mentioned how the Depths was pretty much Hyrule if it were flipped upside down, with high elevated areas in Hyrule being low areas in the Depths (and vice versa) and how rivers in Hyrule become the impassable walls in the Depths.

Pretty much. It's a lot harder this time though.

I would also put a bit of an asterisk there as while you literally have the capability to get there without the paraglider (and you can very easily just not get it, as I can attest to) it is extremely dubious to believe that a new player could pull it off.

Otherwise, yeah you can do it. Even if the idea of doing so as a new player is beyond absurd.

Technically yes although you will not be able to cheese the boss with parries this time. You'll need to actually bring good equipment but there's enough royal guard shit in Hyrule castle that you can do it.

No, you must complete the starting area in this one. Then after that yes, but as others said it isn't easy.

I wonder if you can get to the final boss without the glider though. That's got me curious.

I wanted to know if the final boss was just right where I figured they were and....yep they are lol. I managed to get to it just to see but didn't fight it. It's definitely not easy to get there

Huh interesting, if you attach a dragon part (dunno if spikes work) to any build/object, you massively increase the distance you can move away from it before it despawns. And even the recreated versions from autobuild keep the property

I don't know what the final boss itself entails, but I have to imagine you can do it without the glider. It seems that you can do virtually everything without the glider because I saw a reddit post where someone did just that. The one notable exception is that you are unable to access the Spirit Temple without the glider. And seemingly that's not because you need the glider itself. It's just that the Lookout Landing tower needs to be activated in order to do that quest.

Not sure what his strategy was for Colgera, but I have to imagine as long as you have rocket shields and a platform to use them from, you're set. I don't know if the boss arena has any solid ground, but I guess you could always make your own with Hover Stones.

And then add the Glide Suit to help with aerial mobility and nullify fall damage. I think he rushed for the Glide Suit for obvious reasons.

You gotta get the perfect picture man. I'm on a mission to get the best picture for everything.

Sometimes in natural habitats. Like I'm trying to get photos of all the undecayed weapons while they're being held by the ghosts in the depths.
