It's kind of funny how they stuck in the Desert Rift in TOTK just so there could be some slight challenge to reaching Gerudo Town through the sand shroud, which was otherwise literally just "walk southwest and there you go".

Also I like Riju's new short hair.

Also Gibdos are literally the easiest things in the world to defeat and I'm kinda disappointed in the Gs for failing so hard to take out these lumbering slow things that are weak to fire, something readily available, even to them.

I think one of the Bazaar NPCs even suggests you do that.

It doesn't seem like the game even acknowledges that Gibdos are weak to fire. Because I assume anybody who's played other Zelda games knows that Gibdos are always weak to fire and will likely chuck a Fire Fruit at them. At least that's what I did. The Gerudo Town guards do have Rubies attached to their shields interestingly. And the spear wielders have Electric Lizalfos horns on their spears.

Gerudo Town does have a stockpile of all the fruits among other potentially useful items, so I guess that could be hinting at them having a big elemental weakness.

They want you to explore. If you did every cave, and got their respective frogs, you would have well over the amount needed for all of the upgrades.

If someone does a lot of exploring, completes all shrines and lightroots, and is good about picking up materials they come across, are there any materials you think would still require grinding? Dragon parts and star stones? Those are all I remember grinding for in BotW.

Basically just those + specific monster parts. Stuff like Lyonel parts are needed and there just isn't any way around not grinding. While not for armor batteries require grinding though not as much as people might realize. Just doing all of the unground stuffs (boss rematches, yiga hideouts, etc.) will give you somewhere close to 2/3rds of the total battery so all you would need is the last bit. That said as you have to farm bosses and they give 1/5th of a battery bit per kill the last amount goes fast. Farming ore for battery is useful initially but unless you want to grind up Big Batteries (which is relevant for battery emplacements) it is actually pretty impracticable/not the good way to go about it.

I was disappointed in Gibdos. At 1st I thought they were ReDeads, so I went up to one just to see if they did the freezing scream only to be a bit disappointed that they didn't. Then finding out they're easier to kill than elemental keese was also kind of disappointing as well.

Feels like they should have given them the freezing scream (or make it so that it slows you down) since they did it in OoT + MM and it would have made them much more threatening.

Here's my recommendation for you.

Wait on the top of death mountain, just wait there, you'll be able to leap from the top of death mountain onto the dragon. This is the lowest the light Dragon ever gets. Once you're in position to make the jump, save, and if you don't get the fang, then load.

Early game it's fine, but later on when you're able to build up stockpiles of elemental Lizalfos horns and Gleeok horns (and fire/Frost Talus hearts, though those you can't store) it's better to use those.

As mentioned, gems are still good to put on magic rods/staves though.

So much this. Took me 4 years to actually complete breath of the Wild and for good reason, entirely too much to do in that game and the end game is absolute ground getting all the armor to the appropriate level. I think I mostly played in phases. Like mostly on release, then another 15-20 hours once the dlc dropped. Then another 10-15 hours when tears was officially revealed with actual relevant information and trailers.

absolutely do not go in with the mindset of doing everything the game has to offer.
