Katy Perry Reportedly Wants to Quit 'American Idol' and Thinks Producers "Threw Her Under the Bus"

Katy Perry has faced some criticism this season on American Idol, and apparently she's ready to quit the show because of it. According to a new report in the Daily Mail, Katy feels like she is being thrown under the bus by producers who she thinks have edited her to seem like the "nasty" judge.

A source says that this season has been particularly hard on Katyespecially due to being accused on mom shaming by a contestant who quit the show.

"Katy feels like [the producers] threw her under the bus," the source explained. "She feels like her comments could have been removed. Katy became aware of the harsh criticism. Getting booed really upset her. She was trying to stay in her lane, do her job and go home."

The insider added that Katy "went into it thinking she was going to foster young talent. For her good intentions to be misinterpreted it was not what she wanted. She has accomplished so much in her career and is now being looked at as a nasty reality show judge. Katy's wanted out for some time now, but this season was way too much for her to handle."

Katy makes a reported $25 million per season of American Idol, but according to the source the money doesn't matter as much as her legacy: "[Katy's decision to quit] is not a money thing. For her, it is starting to be more of a legacy issue. She does not want her career defined by a talent competition show where she isnt even performing."

That's the thing about these shows, everyone tries to be so nice and hardly criticize at all. They don't want to be the outright bully that Simon could be back in Idol's heyday (when he would make fun of people's physical appearance and such), but they're so scared of that that they end up being afraid of even saying constructive criticism.

But yeah, at the end of the day, it did come out of her mouth. Lionel Richie and that other guy are over there going out of their way to be nice and barely criticize at all, so they look like angels. If she wants to look like that, all she has to do is follow suit. I mean, the show would be even more boring (and it's already hella boring) if she did, but that's all it takes. She can only blame others so much for what comes out of her own mouth.

Thrown under the bus is editing to her look bad. Them not using editing to make her specifically look good isn't the same thing.
