One of those weird ARG puzzle things that I've never been able to understand involved and now there's a new YouTube channel that's live counting up to 7777 viewers.

Extraction shooters aren't usually my thing, but I'm curious to see what Bungie does with it. Especially given their track record when it comes to smooth-as-butter gunplay.

I didn't say it was a new IP. I said it was a new game. Which it is. And yes, presumably since Bungie called it "Marathon" it's going to be related to the old trilogy.

Marathon isn't a game as much as it is a concept that Bungie developers have carried with them since the very beginning. Marathon -> Pathways Into Darkness -> Marathon 2 -> Marathon Infinity -> Halo (but don't tell anyone or the IP trolling lawyers will get mad).

Basically every game they've ever made has been tied together, even as they switched IPs. I would highly recommend folks check out the Marathon reviews that MandaloreGaming did. It explains the plot and also how Halo is basically a stealth sequel:

PvP extraction shooter zzzzzz

What is an extraction shooter? Is it a battle royale thing like Fortnite? I have only done 1 player shooters since the 2012 glory days of Halo/COD, skipped this whole BR Fortnite craze, a bit out of the loop

sort of. more like rainbow six extraction or CODs DMZ mode where dying loses progress/gear and reaching an extraction zone rewards more XP and gear/weapons persists.

We kind of already know what happens to Tao Seti thanks to Durandel. This is basically filler in the Marathon universe. Hopefully this is just to reintroduce the world to the Marathon universe so that they can make a proper sequel.
