Well, it's not like these jobs are all easy pissy. Plus, I think some of these undocumented workers have a stronger perspective on life, in a sense, as to better appreciate any sort of job.

Say, as apposed to Americans, who tend to be born in a relatively softer/easier environment. These types of experiences can affect such things.

edit: btw, I'm also aware of the how they are taken advantage off, and how said "Americans," would then have to carry such things and not be as cool with it.... was just an aside from me.

"Best workers" = people that were basically being used as slaves.

They've clearly found replacements in the American population. They're just not gonna take the same abuse. If you want to make them good workers, you use techniques to increase their productivity.

The notion that Americans can't be good workers if treated properly is completely unfounded.

They don't want Americans for these jobs. They want people they can underpay and use threat of deportation to prevent any complaints about working conditions or fairness. They want the most exploitable employees possible. And the solutions proposed are let them exploit them (Democrat solution), nothing (Republican solution). Neither of those is really a good option, but no one seems to care. Ideally you would provide work visas for whoever wanted them and have good working conditions, living wages and labor laws enforced for all employees. But that's a pipe dream it seems.

Lmao. What kind of silly response is this? If they're making $2 a day over there and $20 here, it's still exploitive, yet better than what they have over there.

I deal with tons of construction deals up here in NY. It's always some white dude that drives in his BMW or Benz, and gives you a market price estimate, so you're not even saving any money. Then when the work begins, it's 5 or 6 undocumented dudes that bust their fucking ass 10 hours daily till completion. No matter the weather.

Since I speak Spanish, I get friendly with some of these guys and ask them how much they get paid and its always BS like $35/day or $200/week, which is outright embarrassing and not any better than slave wages.

Average salery is like $20hr, plus overtime which is plenty liveable.

The problem for most are the long hours, physical labor, and working outdoors. Which nobody wants to do. Same goes for most other blue collar jobs.

Those are all legal workers. All you've shown is that when protected, they're not exploited that bad.

Do you think nobody hires under the table? The NY construction market is full of under the table workers.

The issue here is 2 fold.
You think these jobs are akin to slavery, and it's bad to keep migrants out.
Not just that we're keeping migrants out, preventing them from suffering under defacto slavery (iyo), correct?

I guess my question is, why isn't the main priority here fixing wages, since that may first help Americans and then if we still see a labor shortage (otherwise thought of as a wage shortage if you prefer) then we can loosen the restrictions?

There aren't labor shortages for them everywhere. And while most laborer positions in the field aren't to hard to get, becoming certified for most heavy equipment kind of is.

Nevermind gaining exp as most smaller company's probably can't afford the lose in productivity and profits teaching somebody new who may not stick around long term.

I worked both retail and fast food and I can tell you for sure that the reason all that happens is because most people dont take those jobs seriously

I learned when I got into a career that people take their work more seriously the more they get paid and the better the benefits are
