It was clearly far harder to design shit around Ultrahand and Recall. I just by passed an entire shrine by holding a big sphere up to the top of a ladder and then using Recall on it at the top so I could grab it with Ultrahand's range. Recall breaks a ton of shrines.

I haven't played the new game and I'm not going to because I'll never dust off my switch but shrines in Breath of the Wild were fucking awful

Nah they're significantly better in TotK.

The fact that you can solve them in "unintended" ways was in BotW too, and the shrines in TotK are more in depth.

There's a difference between multiple solutions and Recall breaking 50% of puzzles because they forgot you can suspend things above you
