Surely there's a better place to house these people than a school that's still in session.

Their lives and them having a place to dwell is more important than gym class.

It's a complete fucking shitshow right now over here. The city is spending $8 million a day to house only 35k, and that number is from April. In March it was $5 million. And more keep coming. Yet, every day there's a new announcement of millions cut in current programs.

The city has run out of space and people are getting pissed. Just yesterday, Adams suspended all review and approval for shelters. Which means they can now start setting them up anywhere they like.

How do we know some of these "parents" aren't astroturfed activists hired by Republicans?

NIMBY is to common on both sides and blue areas have pockets of Republican voters. Its up to officials to ignore them.

Yeah, teachers and staff actually have a lot of requirements and checks to even be allowed near the children in NY schools.

It's not just parents that are pissed. Everybody is pissed because it's hurting the entire infrastructure in NYC.

A lot of Upstate and all of Long Island basically told NYC to go fuck themselves because it's not the state's responsibility. This is something that's completely on Biden.

The protests have seemed to have worked. They're reversing some course.

Also WTF at some of them being unable to shower in 6 days, which is pretty fucked up treatment. I'm surprised there's been zero federal support.

Also it's hilarious they tried this first in heavy POC communities. Probably thought everybody would take it laying down.

Nice to see they are reversing some course. Putting people you have no idea who they truly are in/around schools is a horrible idea.
