This is in reference to SBAllen's post, linked below. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/400-current-events/80445579 The simple answer is, because the vast majority of low-karma accounts on CE are only here to cause trouble. We have any number of habitual troublemakers who just make new alts every time they get banned (SMaL, catboy, duncan, goats, Tails82, 462, buttsage/LivingLegend, VioletMassacre to name a few), and frankly, the board is much better off without them. While I agree that the occasional troll topic or shitpost can be entertaining, it's just not fun (or productive) to have the board flooded by users with 3 Karma and 150 active posts who get suspended within a couple hours. We've all been here long enough that the hot takes just aren't funny anymore when we're seeing dozens of them a day, sometimes in the same topic. And with the low Karma requirement, there's basically no consequences at all for users' actions. There's no reason to bother not getting accounts in trouble when users can freely make new accounts and be active on the board again in less than half a week. While low Karma requirements make sense for game boards, where people just make accounts to ask questions and they're more heavily policed to begin with, CE is almost 100% long-time GameFAQs vets, the vast majority of whom come here daily. Having to go almost two months without access to the board is a much more serious deterrent to misbehavior for CE's userbase than just the current slap on the wrist of a 3-day time out. Also, as to users moving to other socials...personally, I would make all the socials be at least a month's worth of karma, though I could see making RI's requirements a little looser than CE's, just to give the two boards different purposes. --- I...I shall consume.
