i mean it's obviously resetera on multiple levels (format, userbase age/preferences/priorities, moderation style, etc). there isn't really a debate.

reddit has no sense of community whatsoever

4chan is trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls and no longer relevant (remember when memes would always start on there? it's been like 10 years since that felt true)

discord is what you make of it but there's a lot of difference between live-chat and message boards

The reality is there's not a 'replacement'.

Like myself, I can use Reddit Twitter etc. But I prefer old school forum structure. And a gamer vibe.

There really isn't any. Where else on the internet is like GameFAQs nowadays? Pretty much everywhere else like this died out already. That's why people are so angry at what Fandom is doing. It's like they're deliberately killing the last known herd of a critically endangered species.

...maybe the site-which-shall-not-be-named will allow new posts, instead of just being a log.

nah it's pretty close. lots of clueless dads who only play single-player console games, went straight into office-work and make the weirdest comments about service workers. average user age easily in the 30s. politics are mainstream liberal with a particular emphasis on minority and LGBTQ+ rights.

i'd say the main difference is CE allows some degree of sexual objectification (i.e. the topics where people are literally just posting sfw ass) whereas resetera doesn't

Message boards are a thing of the past. The alternative is reddit, which is just upvote farming or getting lost in the aether.

Nah, Reddit is easy to get used to. The only problem, as was said, is there's zero community. There's no real discussion or camaraderie, just racing to get the most upvotes and fucking off.

I wish I could make an account at ResetEra, but all of my emails are throwaways...

Very small subreddits are okay. But any sports or breaking news or general subreddits are just useless for conversation.

I don't think the boards will get closed. But WAY more people are about to get banned.

Since there is no board for politics, talking about politics on other boards will be moderated much harsher than before.

Why not just use one of the remaining free forum creation/hosting services and just migrate to there? Something like ProBoards could work since it's about as old school as the GameFAQS board system.
