It deletes your constructions and moves Link? I came up with an ingenious solution in the wind temple but the save deleted that progress and set me back in the main area.

Specifically, I couldn't find how to get into the vertical laser hallway so I set up a Wing zonai with a rocket and flew under the big fan beneath the whole dungeon and Ascend-ed through the gate. I saved and then as soon as I jumped the fan hit box whacked me away and when I reloaded the save it put me way above on the main platform

yeah the vanishing builds is super fucking annoying. I saw all this shit around the paths and thought it was like a "rebuild hyrule" sort of thing but everything vanishes not just when you save/quit, but leave render range.

Find the Autobuild skill in the depths and you can save contraptions you made

You are punished for beating the wind temple by making the landscape less cool looking
