I kinda wish Rocket was allowed to just handle the High Evolutionary all by himself. Like a full 1 on 1 battle and the rest of the team doesn't arrive till he is completely subdued

Great movie overall, the story, action and visuals were amazing.

My only gripes being few. Drax is a horrible character and dragged down every scene he was in.

The actor who played Peter kind of fell flat for every serious scene. He talked and acted awkward as fuck.

The high evolutionary was a good villain and one of the most heartless I've seen in a while. Though marvel really needs to stop killing off all their bad guys. What is even the point of super heroes when there are no super villains?

I do agree villains need to be left alive and they should play around with a villain team up...but high evolutionary deserved to be executed first chance, hes way too evil and dangerous. This isnt fucking rhino, or scorpion or taskmaster

In the "there is no God, that's why I stepped in" scene, why did him saying that cause everyone in the room to pull out their guns? Were they offended or what was the issue?

I got the sense that that was when they realized he was going to drag them all down further than they wanted to go. Religious people who were tolerating the fact that his experiments went against what they believed in exchange for the power of being associated.

Also for those asking. Gunn confirmed the reason Peter doesnt have his boots and helmet is because he was very drunk/hungover and then Rocket got seriously injured and they left immediately without gathering supplies.

not sure its the best answer but its entirely believable Peter would act without thinking in a tense situation

There are 4 million other villains to use. The movies really can't be like the comics because these characters make an appearance every few years rather than every month for decades. There has to be finality to the villain. Look at any other action movie; the bad guy always dies. Also, the "MCU kills all their villains" thing has been way overblown for a decade now. It's roughly 50/50 who lives and who dies.

A Few other issues I had during the movie was the infiltration mission to find Rockets security bypass.

Star lord convinces one of the staff to give him computer access with some heartfelt speech which actually worked. But Only because she forgot not only did Gamora threaten her at gun point but fucking killed and or injured innocent guards and unarmed staff. Wtf?

Another towards the end was the High evolutionarys facial injuries. So you're telling me after decades of genetic R&D research and gifting himself OP gravity powers the best this super genuis with a god complex and obsseseion with perfection could do for that was stapling his face onto his skin like the Joker? Seriously?

You'd think that would have healed by now at least.

I think the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is the strongest of the non-crossover movies. The only area where I feel they dropped the ball is the lack of a deep drive into Drax's back story. We pretty much got a deep dive on everyone except for him, unless I'm forgetting something.

Yeah, Drax was definitely the worst-handled Guardian, mainly because they just made him the comic relief guy for most of his appearances. The ending of his arc in Vol3 still hit nicely, but it wouldn't been better if he had been more of an actual character for his preceding few appearances.

do we consider CA3 a crossover? Im guessing yes cause its right on that line.

otherwise Id say CA1/2/3 is the top trilogy but ya I would put GotG just a hair behind it.

I agreed the first couple times I saw it but after WS came out it grew on me a bit and with CA3 I actually enjoy it enough.

its the weakest of the three and weaker than a lot of other MCUs but the arc from 1-3 is pretty perfect.

Captain America would be the 2nd best MCU trilogy for sure, with only CA1 holding it back. Winter Soldier and Civil War are both great, but Civil War is more of Avengers 2.5, but I'm not going to hold it against it -- it's still a movie with Captain America as the main character.

GotG is just 3 solid movies, with a more defined vision because they were all directed by the same guy from start to finish.

They did well with the character in IW

James did well with that mess he inherited, also lucked out that thor got dropped off

She just should have never been 'killed off'. It was a detriment to the character and the writing. It felt like they were writing themselves into a corner, and the constant Gamora exposition in GotG3 was tiring. It wasn't worth the 3rd act resolution of their relationship, though that was the best way to end it.

Unlike comics Drax, the one in the movie doesn't really have much of a backstory to tell. He was some dude, Thanos came and killed his family, he wants revenge.

This is why I like the GotG trilogy. There feels like a steady through-line in terms of character development and themes across all three movies, even though you do still have IW/EG between two of them. But they all feel cohesive and like an actual three-part story.

Compared to, say, Ant-Man, where each movie doesn't really have anything to do with the previous ones, especially Quantamania, and they're just movies made for the sake of having more movies, all written by different people with no coordination for characterization of story arcs.

The Ant-Man movies are related to each other. There are storylines that span all 3 movies, with other movies being in between here and there.

The only thing Ant-Man 3 had to do with 1 and 2 were the characters involved and the Quantum Realm. It was just an "introduce Kang" movie.

Like, you aren't watching it to see the conclusion of a trilogy, you're watching it just to get the next update on what's going on in the MCU.

Cosmo is introduced but is treated like shes been around for a while.

both things are just assumed to have happened rather than shown on screen.

the Mantis thing could be inferred from Vol 2 but was a plot point

Cosmo appeared in both Vol 1 and 2. They are just throwaway scenes so a lot of people forget.

In vol 1 she is in collectors collection and growls angrily at rocket who growls back in kind. She is encased in a glass container and escpses to lick collectors face after the movie ends. So that is her first time meeting the guardians and rocket which is kinda interesting

I legitimately cant remember what she does in Vol 2 but she appears at some point im pretty sure.

In the first movie the character was an Easter egg for comic nerds who already would know "him"(given he is a male in the comics)
