The other stuff seems extremely excessive, but the roads and stuff is common sense. It's incredibly narcissistic to assume blocking off traffic and causing huge bottlenecks that can effects hundreds of people and cause a butterfly effect is a "minor inconvenience".

More like protests the government dont agree with in that instance. Majority of Albertans were against the Coutts blockade, but the UCP were for it.

Literally how ANYONE has any of the rights you do.

All of them.

Do people really not understand how few rights people had, unless a wealthy, white, landowner until people violently protested?

So take it straight to Buckingham Palace. Take it straight to Scotland Yard. Take it straight to the corporations. Ruin and disrupt their lives.

2023 is a completely different place than those times and I would like to see studies as well as evidence from these protests that blocking traffic and delaying people's lives, which can cause death and firings amongst tons of other things, helped, and can help.

People said the same shit back then.

Those in power can just ignore most protest unless it's literal French Revolution shit.

So stopping the economy functioning is often the best strategy, or causing them to waste so much money it's easier to be a better human being.

Those latter 2 are ridiculous but the road blocking penalty is fair, next lol. Only people insecure with their cause or self-righteous narcissists who think they're more worthy than others will pull that dumb shit. It's akin to a tantrum by spoiled brat kids. If a protest has a good cause, then you don't need to be an ass and disrupt everyone else to force people to pay attention to it.

If you're getting upset at the protesters and not the horrible laws and conditions that made the protests necessary, you're in the wrong, end of story.

You're just some selfish kid who wants to ignore the problems of others, which is EXACTLY why protests like this happen because you SHOULDN'T ignore it.

Provide the studies and evidence. I don't really care what was said back then. If there's very little support to back this stuff up, then it's meaningless.

Again, it's 2023. Stopping the economy is gonna create more enemies than help. Has anybody tried taking on Buckingham Palace head on? What will they do when hundreds are storming it?

As longer as you arent hindering transportation, ruining public events like concerts or harassing people at places like grocery stores, protest all you like. But people dont show this courtesy so thats why at least they are implementing it in the UK.
So, in other words, many forms of peaceful protest of the Civil Rights Movement is unacceptable to you in 2023.

Sadly far too many do think that, largely driven on by our versions of fox news.

Heck, there was mass support for a women who drove at the protestors stuck on the roads.

She did face legal consequences, but far too many jizzed their underwear over the idea of running any and all protestors over.

Rosa Parks obstructed public transportation.

Just say you disagree with free speech and get it over with. You hate free speech and have decided to be a bootlicker. They won't reward you for your efforts.

"Protest should only be legal if it's unobtrusive and completely out of the way" means you don't believe protest should be legal. I don't even want to know how unfair and wrong you think it is when employees strike.

The only reason you as a human being have rights is because people were disruptive and obstructive.

Not if they're blocking roads. They can protest vocally and make themselves heard, but physically impeding travel is a step too far.

You think blocking traffic is right.

There's a group of people who stand in front of planned parenthood every Saturday in my town with signs. They stand on the sidewalk and say that abortion is bad. People just drive by and mostly ignore them.

Should they be standing in the street instead, in your opinion?
