It just played on PlutoTV a bit ago and I'm still thinking about it.

Having his entire belief system just shattered, his primary source of psychological comfort stripped away and having to figure out how to deal with it.

Episodes like this convince me that Janeway made the right choice with Tuvix. >_>

Ethan Phillips was so good when he actually had substance to work with, and it's a shame that Neelix was always just stuck being the comic relief.

The actor is old school, even for that time period, in that he's theater trained. One thing I never got was why 90s Star Trek was never called the "Benson" reunion. He was one of the governor's aids alongside Jonathan Frakes, Armand Schimmel, and Rene Auberjonois. For the first year of Voyager I was even calling Neelix "Pete" because I immediately knew it was him from the voice. It makes me wonder if Benson's casting director became the casting director for the Trek franchise.

My friends who have seen almost no Trek have a running inside joke about Neelix dying in wacky ways and nobody caring. They barely even know the character's name just 'the annoying chef guy'. They must have seen some youtube or late night tv sketch that I haven't.
