not even expensive cars like teslas or ferraris. just like regular cars but brand new instead of used

just using AUD as an example, but I could go to a dealership and buy a brand new toyota corolla, cheapest seems to be $32k AUD. Or I could go on gumtree and find some used car from 2005 for $5k instead. The brand new car will be a fair bit nicer sure, but is it really $27k nicer?

If you can afford a new car then yes. As long as it's well maintained, you shouldn't have any major issues for at least 5-6 years depending on how much you drive.

Or find one at a dealer that is 12 months old or less (fleet trade in for instance) and pay $10-12k less than the new price.

The added safety features alone would definitely make if nicer.

To each their own. I'm a used car guy myself because I hate taking the depreciative hit driving it off the lot. But if someone enjoys having that new car, so be it. I'm heavily invested in stocks of companies who do well because of the consumer society we live in. So I'm happy to see people driving their brand new car into the drive thru of a McDonalds buying something from Amazon on their latest edition of iPhone. They're checking so many boxes for me and my portfolio!

I cant even justify owning a car, to be honest. However, everybodys circumstances are different.

I have this pal who is completely spoiled and from a rich family, and she dead ass said to me that she could never buy a used car because the fact that someone else had owned it before her gave her "the ick".

This girl earns like $40k a year but her parents bought her a porsche as her first car. The world is not fair.

A large portion of the new cars with 0 miles are company cars that get a fleet discount, or people who lease the cars. Those cars end up on the used market 2-3 years downthe road with 30-40k miles and are snagged up by people who laugh about the stupid prices that are charged for 0 mileage cars. You wouldn't catch me dead in a brand new car, only chance you'll see that is if another person paid for it

Peace of mind that the car wasn't treated like shit by previous owners.
