In the intro to the remake, they mention that a lot of people have gone missing around Valdelobos. So do they just...not investigate the main town in the area at all? The villagers weren't hiding what they were doing, the gate to their town square has decapitated heads on top of it.

Well as you saw any police who investigate go missing themselves.

They aren't exactly specially trained like Leon.

All they knew is that some hikers went missing, with the amount of time unspecified. It was never said that cops went missing before those two. This is you trying to force an exaggerated point.

Sending an entire military strike force isn't exactly something a country wants to do to an allied country.

Do the Spanish police not have any helicopters? Fly over the village and shoot everyone on the street. Then shoot some missiles at buildings or any monsters

They didn't know there was plagas. They were working off Intel that the President's daughter was spotted there. Not any concrete evidence. And by the time they did send in support(a helicopter), it got blown out of the sky.

AFAIK Blue Umbrella is a PMC, unrelated to the US government. The BSAA were also present, but they're allied with all nations.

Funnily enough, I'm not sure remake Hunnigan did either. The most Leon says about the situation is that there's "something wrong with the people here." He never elaborates further.

That's actually the exact opposite. Blue Umbrella is strictly forbidden from having any kind of military force, so they contract out to the BSAA. They also weren't involved in the village ordeal beyond supplying Chris' squad with medical supplies.

To be fair, Leon(and Sherry by extension) would've been royally fucked if they knew about Ashley being infected. I think him keeping it a secret until it was all fixed was the right move lol.

Ahhh, I didn't realize Chris was still with the BSAA. That was my bad. I missed the files detailing that!

I don't think the explanation for that is actually in either game. The wiki just says it and cites some webpage that's entirely in Japanese lol.
