Beta client right now but so I guess it'll be a few weeks for the main client. I've wanted that notepad feature for so, so, so long now. The 3DS had something similar and it's about damn time.

"We've also added the ability to
pin windows
from the overlay, so that they can appear on top of the game while in-game. Opacity level is adjustable, and only the contents of the window will be pinned - excluding the title bar and other extraneous UI. This new functionality is available for Notes, Guides, Discussions, and the web browser (yes, you can watch movies while you play games if you really want to)."

This will alleviate some of the angst in regards to some people not liking Elden Ring not having a quest log.

That was one of my first thoughts lol. My first actual thought was how nice this will be for a Morrowind replay. I can use it for organizing some Deadfire stuff, too, and any farming sims I play. So many uses!

It refreshing and nice to have the wjole steam UI redone. I like it.

That's pretty cool. I probably won't make much use of it now since I have two monitors. Ever since a coworker gave me a free monitor a few years ago, I don't think I can ever go back to 1 monitor.

I can see the notepad being absolutely vital for RPGs. Pretty neat.

Somehow all this stuff makes the steam overlay seem cozy. I never use it but now I want to find reasons to use it.

yeah I can't see myself using the on-screen sticky notes feature except for the times when I'm doing a puzzle game.

It does look cozy lol. It's kind of funny how this feature makes me excited to get to my next Steam game so I can use it.

So wait, can you put browser windows on the overlay?

I've received criticism that my guides are not within the Steam framework, meaning they couldn't be put on the overlay. There was a guy who was actually looking to copy my guides into Steam Guides so it could be on the overlay easily (I politely asked him not to do that).

It sounds like a browser can be done, yeah. Even said if you wanted to be weird enough to watch movies, you could lol.

I guess it will helpful if you're grinding in a korean mmo or if you're watching a guide for a specific area you're having trouble with in a game.

yeah itll help with video guides especially if you only have one monitor.

I wonder if there's a way to get the new overlay but not get the new desktop client (by which I mean keep the current look of the Steam window where you access the Store, your Library, etc., but still have access to the new overlay when actually in a game). I REALLY like the new overlay, but hate how Steam is gonna look when not in a game now.
