The fancy bottle.

It's good. It's strong. And it is smmmmooooovvvveeee. I think that's where your money goes, to make it smooth.

In my opinion, tequila is a lot like gin, in that the cheap shit is somehow better.
Too many bad Pancho Villa nights (and worse mornings) are why I can't drink tequila anymore.

I was a daily tequila drinker, I think the best bang for your buck is Hornitos or Espolon, I really never tasted much of a difference between it and Patron, which I think is too much for what it is to begin with.

With aged stuff, especially whiskey, you are definitely going to notice a difference in smoothness, older whiskey is generally much easier to drink straight.

>_> I agree with the exact opposite of this

Gin was the first drink I bought when I turned 21 and I skimped out and bought some rando $10 brand. It was so bad I legit avoided gin for like 13 years until a friend asked me to try out some $40 brand he bought. And that one was actually enjoyable to sip

Forteleza, Calle 23, Don Fulano were my favourites.

Basically stay the fuck away from any tequila that is "Mixto", Diffuser or any brands that add additives.

Diffuser is where they use chemicals to strip the agave and I believe it is cost efficient and quicker than traditional methods but it fucks the flavour.

And any tequila that uses additives to artificially sweeten is horrible to. The big one is Casamigos. Sweetened as all hell to appeal to the masses.

I haven't tried Don Julio 1942 in a long time but last time I tried their Blanco it was horrible. For me personally, you need to have good a Blanco to have good Reposados and Anejos.

I've been managing a tequila bar for 3 years. Finally, I can talk.

Dump Patron and Espolon down the toilet, it sucks. Lunazul, Hornitos, Milagro or Don Julio (for a bit more) will taste infinitely better.

All celebrity tequila is very, very bad and if you knew the business practices you'd be terrified. Subsidizing failing agaze farms and lionizing their after-tax free labor into your brand image? It's not just Starbucks that does this!

El Tesoro is a fantastic line to get into that is slightly expensive, but some of the most authentic stuff you can buy.

Lastly, 1942 rules. Clase Azul is trash. Change my mind.

You're right. Clase Azul is overpriced shit. You're paying for the bottle and not the tequila inside. It's overly sweet and has no substance.

Don't know how true this is... but a rep I used to know who knew his shit about agave suspected that the bottles weren't even made in Mexico any more.

Kendall Jenner doesn't know anything about tequila and looking at the business practices (read: $$$) from an exploitive economy and little oversight can lead to... interesting compromises. At best, you're getting Espolon in a literal different bottle, or an angry distiller trying to replicate a recipe (Cosamigos is literally trying to taste like Clase Azul), or agave farmers who have no one else to sell their inferior product to. Like Starbucks, with their uniform roasting plants, child labor or Arabica vs Robusta debacle.
