Long story short, my dreams were crushed because of a comically unlucky sequence of events and misconduct that were no fault of my own.

Its not really something I can sue over, because it involves a government agency not picking up the phone or responding to emails/Facebook messages until past a certain deadline.

Its been about a month now, and I still think of it literally hours upon hours every day. I basically dont sleep at night, the only sleep I get happens when Im too physically tired to think.

How do I get over this?

Kind of a generic answer but I've found therapy to very helpful for basically any issue that I can't get over, but would like to.

Maybe you could try life-changingly wronging someone else and see if that helps.

So the issue was that they didnt have a document that I had, and I was basically desperately trying to get someone to speak to me so I could give it to them.

Well the Colonel in charge of the program replied to my IG complaint saying We reviewed all the documentsyou know, except the one I had and was trying to give themso it was basically a non-answer.

I re-filed the complaint and got it approved for elevation, but her being a Colonel and all, if they go to her before speaking to me I suspect its not going to matter.

I also filed an official congressional complaint/request for investigation, for whatever thats worth.

You probably already know this, but it may help to consider that stewing on it has a 0% chance of unfucking the situation/receiving retribution or whatever and a 100% of whoever wronged you basically fucking your life up more

(Saying this as someone who has done that a lot in the past despite knowing it was irrational)

The past is the past. It's over and it's done. Find a new goal to aim towards. Even something small is fine. Your brain is consumed by it because you're not giving it something else to focus on.

Well, Im glad you did that. Its possible that nothing will come from it, but my personal recommendation would be to not drop those and keep fighting it as long as you can.

In the mean time, I would echo what others have said, find a new goal to work on, and maybe try therapy too.

My heart turned to stone after being unjustly fired a couple of years ago. It turned me into a cynical, bitter, untrusting person.

The thing is, I'm also better equipped to handle life now than I was back then. I stand up for myself a lot better. And more importantly, it helped me identify the people who DO matter to me.

The big issue I deal with now is that I can't even expect people to act in their own self interest, because the woman who fired me was still posting the job opening 18 months later. She fucked over her own business because she threw a temper tantrum. It scares me that people like her value ego over success.
