I don't think that's true. Even when using the block feature extensively I still need to face my own shitposts.

Block feature if for the weak. I don't care if people use it though as it's easy enough for me to log out and read posts from users who have blocked me IF I care that much.

Opening a link in a private window is the easiest way to read blocked comments if you care.

I find tagging is more effective

and some people can't live without being toxic antagonists because they're unhappy

sometimes people are just harassing and not actually putting forth ideas or arguments though

I used to not block but I definitely blocked the two guys that just post stupid ass spam constantly, filling up the entire home page.

Not really, but ignores and blocks help with some problems. However, any dedicated troll / stalker will have workarounds.

The thing that'd make this site tolerable -- which we'll never get -- is a set of consistent, non-arbitrary rules evenly enforced by unbiased, well-informed mods.

Yeah, there are some chronic spammers who will render an entire board almost unusable.

I guess it lost its appeal when he didn't get as many people visiting the topics so he could collect data on them. What an odd duck.

I've Ignored a few people, but only used the Block systems once, when some users started a personal argument in my topic and one wouldn't cease it. Even then, I unblocked them a week later.

I've seen the Block feature used poorly as well, at times when Ignore would be far better. Such as users who would make most of the ongoing event topics for a game Blocking someone they simply don't like. Not even a trouble maker, they simply wanted to drive this user off over a different opinion. The user can't see most of the important topics, and not like there were multiple people making topics about the same event either. -_-

The type of users who like to obsessively argue, the topic derailers, disruptive trolls, and type of people who love to call any contrary opinion trolling, they're the type of users you're always better off blocking.

i tend to derail topics, it's not my fault! it's just my dumb-brain
