Ive heard really good things about Xeno Chronicles 3. I want to try this series out but when I looked on the switch store theres a ton of different versions, dlc, etc.

Where do I begin?

Also, unrelated: is bayonetta ever going to go on sale

They're all loosely-related, with some callbacks to the prior one mostly towards the end of Xeno2 and Xeno3, but otherwise, they can be treated as standalones.

I would say go in order from Xenoblade Definitive Edition > Xenoblade 2 + Torna > Xenoblade 3, since they do more-or-less improve on the predecessors in various ways.

Beware that Xenoblade 2 is basically a super-shonen anime, with all that implies. It's still pretty good, but if you have a hard time stomaching anime tropes, then the game can be a bit hard to play.

Xenogears is a good start

XC2 is one of the greatest games Ive ever played. The emotional beats just hit so hard

Xenoblade: Definitive Edition is the first one

Xenoblade: Torna is the prequel to the second one

Xenoblade 3: The third one.

Play them in release order.

Start with Xenoblade 1 DE on Switch. That's the only one I played so far and it was great

Play Xenogears cuz it's good. Then what everyone else said, and cry that X is the only one that hasn't come to Switch yet

Start with the first. Its my favorite game of all time. I played the Wii version but get DE on Switch.

You just play them in order, they're related to each other, especially 3 involving both 1 & 2. Story DLCs are relevant, rest are up to you.

Nah. Xenogears is separate from Blade 1-3, as is Xenosaga and Xenoblade X. They just like to reuse some things between games but they're not connected.

Gears is a standalone

Xenosaga was a spiritual successor that had three entries for the PS2

Blade is unrelated with some callbacks to those in the know (I havent played 3 so this might change). All but X are available on switch

What do you need help with exactly? I can help you understand the combat pretty well. It's pretty much menu prep and clicking the right things at the right time, then you win.

It's tough to pull off in 2 unless you watch like an hour of Youtube explaining it to you

In 1 always use Shadow Eye as much as possible, and then build up to where you can use stream edge (you have to hit the enemy in the front) and especially in DE, Reyn (or Dunban) will pretty much *always* topple them with their art. Then you do your big hits like Backslash or anything Monado.

I wouldn't have so much problems with Xenogears if the vast majority didn't go galloping like it was the greatest thing ever made. The game as beyond flawed in almost every way imaginable from the plot to the characters to the game mechanics. The only redeemable qualities from the game is the music and the animation.

I didn't play Xenoblade 1 until last year and it was still one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played. The music, the characters, the battle system, the exploration and visual style all held up to the maximum extent possible despite the graphics not even being amazing when they came out. I'd highly recommend starting with Xenoblade 1 DE and going from there.

In X2 you have to flick the control stick everytime Rex hits otherwise the game is a fucking boring ass slog and do not listen to the auto attack combo shit the game tries to fuck your head with. You auto attack cancel and build your shit up quick. Also you perpetually go back to the first merchant town and constantly buy Nacipair Jellies (cause they last over 1 hour for their buff) and then the game is finally tolerable.

Honestly I just looked up YouTube videos to figure out how all the mechanics worked. Or Reddit. Thats why Im 2 I had my party set up in a way I can activate chain combos in an easier manner. Dark-Dark-Water was always a good one for me.
