Plan on spending about $100 or so on it. While a recommendation for a specific one is welcome, I'm more looking for tips on picking one myself

Just get a big one mostly. There are premium microwaves with air fryers built in if you want to save space.

The small ones are useless.

I got one that has a rotisserie. It also has a rotating basket for stuff like French fries.

This. My wife got one that fit in her pressure cooker. It made about three onion rings at a time.

I bought this one for $125 during a sale. Id definitely recommend getting the largest one you can. I like the two drawers since I can cook two things at once, or just be lazy when I dont feel like cleaning the other drawer.
