Why did musicians lose so much cultural relevance in the past decade or so?

I can't name one single popular new band or musician. Do people still go to concerts and stuff? Why did musicians lose so much cultural relevance in the past decade or so?

Older people lose the drive to pay attention, and haven't bothered looking around for the past decade or more, and wonder where it all went.

There's still a lot of great rock music out there. Why it isn't as big as it once was, I don't know. Maybe lack of promotion now or something, and a lot of people in the rock music world can't move on past the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

You can't really think concerts in the olden days didn't have all this stuff too

Just astounds me that music has literally never been more easy to access in all of human history, and people who seem like they care about music are still making dumb, blatantly untrue comments like this

I've had four vaccine shots and will continue to get them as they are released. I actually did get COVID last year from a festival (most likely the Rage Against the Machine day since I literally had other people's sweat on me from being at the front rail), and it kinda sucked, but the vaccines did the job and I just slept dozed on my couch for a week.

After a readily accessible vaccine has been available for long enough, I don't feel my life is in danger, and generally I'm statistically safe to do one of the things I enjoy most in life.

Been at the front rail, middle, and far back of 40-80k festivals, never once even though being trampled would happen.

Every kind of music you like from those decades is still being made

You don't think it's "As good as it used to be" because you have no sentimental attachment to the music that is being released today.

It's been written about hundreds of times. The music of our youth makes us think of our youth. You attach the music to a simpler time. You have no fondness to today's music, even if it's in a similar genre to what you used to listen to, because as you get older you don't relate it to life events like you did when you were younger.

So you don't even bother to seek out anything new, because you rather the comfort of your "youth music" and how it makes you feel.
