The game looks gorgeous and I'm still excited for its release, but the combat seems to be a tad dissonant in that there are a lot of animations and attacks happening with disproportionately small damage in return.There's a lot of slashing happening and numbers popping off and I worry it'll just feel a little style over substance.

To be fair I did know about a lot of his collaboration stuff and alias names/groups, but yeah didn't know his actual name. I would not consider myself to be musically knowledgeable, I love listening to music but only when it's connected to something, soundtracks and themes and the like. Can't remember the last time I bought...or even listened to a song that was just it's own thing with no multimedia connection at all, honestly.

And I think the damage numbers are actually adding to the issue some people are having about the excess flash in the trailers, I get why they have them but I can't imagine most people will keep them on, certainly not me.

It's a lot like how MMOs like 14 work, it's all about the damage sponges. 15 had that pretty often too.

7R had really well tuned damage values though, maybe a bit large on the HP bars but not too bad. So I hope they can tune these values to be more single-player focused like 7R.

There's also the fact that if you kill something in 4 hits you can't show of the sick 10 hit combo, so it could just be totally fake numbers that they used to show off the combat.

I do get a 7R feeling. There were even bosses getting put in stagger mode. The action looks more flexible, though. 7R some big focuses are tagging between characters and telling the others to use moves. Here the party members are purely AI and you're controlling one character with various powers.

7R barely had AI, it was like 80% lead character. But maybe this is even more focused on the lead.

Yeah, you had to individually move them out of boss AOEs. It was kind of the minimum AI so that they weren't just sitting there while you're not controlling them.
