Jones and Pearson, both of whom are Black, were voted out of the Tennessee House on Thursday for their actions that took place in response to the deadly school shooting in Nashville.

Some 130,000 voters in heavily Black districts are currently without representation in the House. Rep. Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville, who is white and also led the protest, survived expulsion by one vote.

That thing Will Smith said (something to the effect of "racism hasn't gotten worse, it's just being filmed") doesn't feel that true. I think racism HAS gotten worse, or in the very least is more open. Time was people would try to hide it behind pleasantries or subtle remarks that at least gave them plausible deniability if someone came out and confronted them about it. Nowadays people just come out swinging and are unapologetic about it.

Well if people are filming bad behavior wouldn't that make people even less willing to push their luck?

It's like racism has simultaneously become socially acceptable and unwelcome on both sides. People are louder and more unrestrained about calling it out yet the other side is also less inclined to sugarcoat or otherwise try to set themselves up for the aforementioned plausible deniability. They don't care that they can't later claim that they're not racist, they just do whatever they want and let the chips fall where they may despite making society more uncivilized and frictional.

Shame died in this country when Trump was elected you can be as bigoted as you want to be and nothing will happen to you, hell being a bigoted jackass seems to pay the bills with how many influences are jumping into it even if they don't believe it whole sell.
